In a deal brokered between the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) and key international Rugby bodies, the two teams will take to the pitch in June of this year at the Sydney Football Stadium.

The Wallabies have not graced the Sydney Football Stadium since they took on the New Zealand Maoris there in 2001, an entertaining match that saw the Wallabies run out victors 41 – 29.

The match up represents a great deal of excitement for Sydney siders and rugby fans all over Australia with the home of football in Australia re opening it’s gates in favour of the larger Stadium Australia at Homebush.

Neither side will be taking the encounter lightly either.

Although traditionally the match between the Wallabies and the Barbarians (a team made up of the best players from the rest of the world as selected by the International Rugby Union) will be an exhibition match primarily, there is no love lost between the two sides who will be eager to post a victory.

Although some players will be unable to front for the Barbarians due to international and club commitments, they have no shortage in their depth of talent and promise to field a team brimming with show stopping talent.

Interestingly, the Australians have won their last six encounters against the Ba – Bas and have won a total of seven of the ten matches played between the two sides.
