It’s about time someone had the balls to make players earn their money in Australian Rugby Union.

There has been far too much Mamby Pamby both on and off the field and it now looks like Deans is going to put some grunt back into the team. The Wallabies are set to play 14 Test Matches this year and Deans is not going to employ the usually player rotation that has been utilised in the past.

I personally have to agree with this stance as there is no substitute for match fitness to take on the hardest teams in the world you need all the game play you can get. On June 28 Australia takes on France in the first match of a two test series starting in Sydney.

For my money I think Deans and the new team will come out with a win but you can never underestimate the French for pulling out some interesting, hard fort and charismatic wins.

Look out for stand out performances from the forwards as they will be really aiming to impress after a less than cohesive performance against Ireland. Australian Rugby is a great sport and now is the time to get registered with a sportsbetting site like www.sportingbet.com.au to start betting!

Ireland showed a willingness to play an expansive style of Rugby much to the delight of the huge crowd at Melbourne’s Telstra dome.

Sterling Mortlock was able to concentrate on his captaincy without having to worry about the kicking duties as this was taken over by the Forces kicker Matt Gitto

The Wallabies return to Sydney today where they will go into camp in preparation for the French Test.

The match played on Saturday started off living up to the hype of a classic black verses white jumper epic but as the poms huge forwards grew tired the mistakes and penalties started to come in to the game play for the English rose team.

New Zealand managed to compose themselves for the first 20 minutes of barrage form England and where eventually rewarded with a satisfactory win.

The All Blacks once again proved to be one of the best attacking teams in the world but an Intercept Try showed yet again how venerable a team can be when such an arsenal of attack is going forward.

This of course cost the All Black a birth in the 2003 Rugby World Cup final when Australia did the same thing to Carlos Spencer in the early part of the Semi Finals. Australia went on to play England and went on to take out the championship.

New Zealand plays England again next week and I think there will be little change in tactics. If their is a wet track then I suspect that England may score early with their big forwards but New Zealand will wear them down with their fitness and quick big forwards such as Brad Thorn.
