Rugby: Carcely have we seen the end of the premier Rugby Super 14’s competition do we partake in a literal feast of Rugby action in Australia with the Bundaberg Rugby series kicking off ahead of the much anticipated Tri Nations and Bledisloe Cup.

Australia has well and truly kicked off their campaign with a fifty point victory over the seemingly thrown together Barbarians and following it up with a convincing victory over the ever competitive Italian side.

They will now take on the Italians at Etihad stadium on Saturday to finish off the warm up Bundaberg series before the Tri Nations and Bledisloe after New Zealand suffered an embarrassing defeat against the French at home.

Last year saw the All Blacks take the Bledisloe Rugby Cup and Tri Nations from a fledgling Wallabies side and a South African side that simply did not live up to expectations, but this year should be a different story as the Wallabies immerge as the side to beat.

Punters would have to be delirious to tip Italy who, despite showing plenty of heart in all of their international encounters would be lucky to get away with anything less than a thrashing against a Wallabies side who have played themselves into form.

The Wallabies may well take on the tag of favourites leading into the much awaited series though there are still two tests to be played before the Australian test rugby series really kicks off.

The Wallabies relish being the form team and this should be a jugernaught that continues to roll on under the tutelage of Coach Robbie Deans.
